We got the green light to do another FPU class at our church! We'll be starting January 20. I'm so excited!

Busted

We've been without our TV for a while now (and without cable for even longer). We still watch a fair amount of movies/TV (thanks to the evil networks giving it to us for free online!), but there's one show I've sorely missed...until now! MythBusters. A quality show that no man (or woman) should go without. Thank you Discovery Channel for now offering it for free online.

Oh, wait, that's not a joke.

While eating lunch today, I browsed on over to LarkNews.com. It's a pretty funny website that writes satirical Christian news articles. It's very funny and written so well that it often sounds real. In fact, I've sent articles to people in the past as a joke and they thought they were legitimate articles!

Well, today I was reading this article about a high profile pastor couple that was getting a divorce. I was chuckling and thinking how silly the article was...until I Googled the name of the woman in the article! The couple was Randy and Paula White (I'd never heard of them before).

The LarkNews article is not real (the specific details and focus of the article), but the divorce it references is real! And, after reading a couple of (real) news articles about the divorce, it seems that the LarkNews article isn't very far from the truth.

It is a crazy deal and if you want to get riled up you can read about it here. Sounds like this couple/church was heavy into the prosperity message...which helps to explain the situation a little bit. If you're going to preach prosperity and that God just wants you to be happy, one of the logical steps will be toward casual divorce.

It's a crazy world when satire news starts to sound real and real news starts to sound satirical.
