My details might be a little inaccurate here and there, but I don’t think it will suffer the story much. Sonja is in MOPS. Every so often (yearly?) her MOPS group brings in Antiquities and for $10 you can take your little angel(s) and get pictures of them dressed in old fashion garb and get a 11x14 (or some other large size) picture. For only $10! Ah, but here’s the catch. They take a bunch of different pictures and then when they come back a few weeks later, you have the option of buying additional pictures…pictures that are not cheap. At all. As in the opposite of cheap.
I went with Sonja to the shooting and I must say that Levi and a little pair of denim overalls makes for a pretty cute picture.
Imagine my relief (or should I say the relief of our budget) when we discovered that Sonja was going to be out of town all this week and that she was going to miss the come-pick-up-your-“free”-picture-and-get-suckered-into-buying-a-bunch-more appointment. Oh, darn, that meant I would have to go and tell them thanks for the 11x14, have a nice day – leaving happily with wallet and budget intact.
Well, then we both forgot about the appointment altogether and I missed our scheduled one. And got their voicemail with 15 minutes to get there to pick it up or I would have to pay $5 for shipping. $5! I’ll just run right down there and pick it up and save the $5.
I believe that it was at this point that events were put into motion that were beyond my control.
So I get there and lo and behold, those are some pretty cute pictures. And, wouldn’t it be fun to surprise Sonja with some (because I had made it very clear to her that we were not buying any more beyond the free one). And then the other moms are gathering around and “helping” me decide.
Needless to say, when it was all over, I was walking out with more than just my free picture (albeit the cheapest option available).
So, for those that will ask (and they usually do): no, I did not try to Dave Ramsey the price down; no, I did not flash cash; no, I did not wait overnight to buy; and, no, it was not in my budget. That being said, I will now be setting up a link to our PayPal account for those that want to donate to this cause.
In the meantime, enjoy some pictures.

I'd say they suckered you, but with a kid as cute as that, I don't think you had a choice...
By the way, the one with the John Deere tractor is beyond adorable...
Oh man! What an ADORABLE little man you guys have! We too got suckered into some (not-so-cheap) pictures when Ryan was about Levi's age. They came to your house FOR FREE! and even gave us an 11x14 for free! But how do you pass up the adorable black and whites? Or the sepia tones? Their faces will never be so captured, so perfect...anyhow...I hope you made it out with more money than we did. We have a lot of great pictures of him at 8 months...then they are all mom's blogs- ha! Thank you for sharing sweet sweet baby pictures. Oh, and I know that the Deere was for his Iowan Auntie and Uncle =) (the overalls, too) thanks for the thoughts tee hee!
Oh man, how could you have resisted? Seriously. Those are the cutest pictures. Levi is so photogenic. And he looks like a natural in the overalls and the barrel!
